NECO firmly committed to its community-based clinical training model. And with this model comes a commitment to creating an extensive network of clinical sites that provide experience with varied patient types, clinical conditions, clinic models, and diverse communities.

With community-based clinic sites, you’ll be able to develop critical skills and understanding of cross-cultural competence and social determinants of health.

The set of clinical training sites provide exposure to a multitude of systems, conditions, and collaborative care relationships in the healthcare system.

We believe allowing students to train with a variety of systems and tools allows them to become agile in their approach and better prepared to integrate new innovations in optometry in the future.

We believe that for students to become great clinicians, they have to understand the communities they’re working in. As a national role model in community-based clinical training programs, students gain deep experience providing eye care in community health centers.

NECO’s own comprehensive eye centers are equipped the latest in diagnostic and therapeutic technologies. Students have the chance to learn from experts in myopia management, low vision rehabilitation, contact lenses, dry eye, pediatrics, and vision therapy.

The most important decision of your life.
